Dr. McDowell was born and raised in Gilbert, Arizona, where he first discovered his passion for dentistry by observing the meaningful impact his two dentist uncles had on the people they cared for. From an early age, he was inspired by the way they combined skill, compassion, and service to improve lives and build lasting relationships within their communities. At the same time, he spent much of his childhood working alongside his father in construction, where he developed a strong work ethic, a love for working with his hands, and a deep appreciation for the value of careful, high-quality craftsmanship he could stand behind. These early experiences naturally shaped his path toward a career in dentistry.
After graduating high school, Dr. McDowell served a two-year church mission in Eugene, Oregon. This experience further strengthened his desire to dedicate his career to helping others and building meaningful, trust-based relationships. He then returned to Arizona and attended Arizona State University, where he graduated summa cum laude. During this time, he also worked as an oral surgery assistant, gaining valuable hands-on experience and deepening his commitment to providing thoughtful, patient-centered care.
Dr. McDowell went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he attended on academic scholarship. Throughout his training, he remained focused on delivering care that prioritizes patient comfort, clear communication, and long-term oral health. With family roots in the Ontario, Oregon area, he has long appreciated the hard working agriculture community, and outdoor lifestyle of the Treasure Valley area, and is eager serve the patients who call it home.
Above all, Dr. McDowell believes dentistry should be a positive, comfortable experience built on trust and understanding. He is committed to treating every patient with the same level of care, respect, and attention he would want for those closest to him, helping them feel informed, respected, and confident in their care.
Outside the office, Dr. McDowell enjoys spending time with his wife, Chandler, and their two children. Whether snowboarding, bike riding, attending sporting events or doing anything active, he values every opportunity to create lasting memories and stay connected to his family, community and those around him.
